Deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Matthews. He was my physics teacher in grade 10 at Halifax West. I believe they called it physical science back then. It might’ve even been his first year teaching as Halifax West wasn’t mentioned in the obituary. He was a wonderful teacher with a great sense of humour. I’m not sure how old he was, but he seemed very young at the time and his students gave him the nickname of Babyface Matthews, which he seemed to get a kick out of. I have been speaking to many of my friends(his students ) from the West since seeing the obituary and he is remembered fondly. I even went on to become a teacher myself. Now retired after 31 years. Rest in peace Mr. Matthews ( Karen Cable Boyd)
