I , and my eight siblings grew up in Spryfield in the 60's and then moved to the Fundy Shore but remember all the former Spryfield neighbours , and how we all got along so well ... there were always the Riley's , the Bryden's , the Baker's ( Lloyd & Fran ) , the Murphy's , the Yeadon's , and so on ... Laurie Riley used to take me down to Roy and Dodo Miles house where there was always an endless supply of baked goods in the porch , in tins and containers ... I assume that George was a relative of Roy & Dodo ... this obituary makes me sad that time has seemingly gone so fast ... I don't exactly remember George but made many stops at Crowell's drug store ... our family lived on the corner of HCR and Twin Oaks Drive ... my sincerest sympathy to George's entire family ... my mum and dad were Roy and Enid Baker .... gerald_baker@hotmail.com

Dear Linda and Family, I have such fond and funny memories of George. Linda, you guys were like family and there were always lots of laughs, and trickery going on.
He and Dad were great friends and they ran the drug store like a well oiled machine. At least they made it look that way. I remember organizing the back store room and was feeling quite accomplished. George had to tell Dad to keep me out of there!! it was so funny, but George had his own organization and it was all in his head.
He and Dad would always have a little joke or gag going on…George was adept at keeping Dad on his toes!
So my heartfelt condolences to you all. George was very special.
Love, Jan Crowell

My sincere condolences to all the Miles family on George's passing. George was a valued volunteer for a number years in the Spryfield Community. Georges involvement with the Lions Club and Boys and Girls Club made a huge difference to many in Mainland South.
I had the pleasure to play with and against George in fastball and also lined up against him in Old Timers Hockey. George was a fierce but always fair competitor.
May George rest in peace.

So Sorry to hear this Sad news. I played Fastball against George for many years. He was a fierce competitor and a Gentleman, win or lose. He had a very heavy pitch which felt like a lead ball on the bat, and a cannon ball on the leg,arm or ribs each of which I have first hand knowledge, lol. I know none of them were intentional. He was one of the nicest guys in the league. He will be greatly missed. Please accept my deepest sympathy. RIP George.

My condolences to Linda and the family. I was a fastball teammate with George for many years and he was always such a friendly and inspiring teammate. I remember his pitching reputation as having a "heavy" ball because if you were ever in the unfortunate situation of getting beaned by one of George's (always unintentional) pitches, you felt it!! WE had many great years together on the ball field and made many good memories. He was one of the Greats!! Will be fondly remembered.

It is so sad to hear about George’s passing. During my days of playing fastball , Georgie Miles was an intimidating pitcher, but for me, I will always remember George for his friendly, kind and upbeat personality. George was the nicest person who had a hearty laugh and a positive outlook on the world around him. When I was Principal of Tantallon Senior Elementary School, it was so nice to see George and Linda, when they attended Christmas concerts or special events to see their grandchildren. George was always “beaming” during these times and it was easy to see how much he treasured Payton and Ryan. Georgie Miles will be sadly missed but will always be remembered for being one of the nicest person you could ever meet. Such a great guy! To George’s family, may time and fond memories ease the pain during this difficult time.
