Obituary of David Raymond Andrews

David Raymond Andrews, 80, of Middle Sackville, NS, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Dave was born on July 24, 1945 in Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland; he was the son of Charles and Melita Andrews. Dave grew up in a large family consisting of 9 children. He is survived by his six brothers, Gordon, Gary (Linda), Aubrey (Rosie), Shawn (Melanie), Keith (Marg), Ted (Joanne) and his two sisters, Patricia (Rick) and Joan.

At a very young age, Dave went to work on the railroad as a locomotive engineer. He held many positions with CN Rail throughout his career and retired as an Assistant Superintendent of Transportation in 2000 in Halifax, NS. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication and loyalty to his profession. Following his retirement from CN Rail, he went to work with Transport Canada in the Railway Safety Division, followed by a short stint with the Windsor-Hantsport Railroad where he went back to driving trains, truly a full circle moment.

Dave was a man of deep faith and a devoted member of the Full Gospel Church in Bedford, NS, where he served and worshipped faithfully. His love for God and his church was evident in the way he lived his life, always striving to be a light in the world and to spread the word of God as a member of the Gideon’s. Dave was a cherished member of the church having made many friends during his time there. His presence at the door on Sunday mornings and among the congregation will undoubtedly by missed by all.

Above all, Dave cherished his family and found his greatest joy in being a husband, father and grandfather. He is very lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Maureen, their two daughters and sons-in-law, Kerry (Michael Jones), and Alison (James Bennett). As well as by his four grandchildren whom he adored, Cameron and Lauren Jones, and Sophie and Zachary Bennett. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He and Maureen attended as many of their extra-curricular activities as they possibly could, including soccer, baseball and basketball games, school plays, band concerts and craft markets. His love and support for his grandchildren was unwavering. Dave was an extraordinary man whose kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will take place at 11 am on October 11th, 2025 at Full Gospel Church, 2256 Larry Uteck Blvd, Bedford, followed by a reception at same location. A livestream of the service will be available by clicking this link: Live Stream
