Obituary of Thomas Joseph White

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Joseph White, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who left us on October 23, 2025.  

Tom's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and hard work. Born on December 30, 1946, in St. John's, Newfoundland, Tom grew up in Spryfield, Nova Scotia. He is survived by his twin sister, Mary MacDonald (David), and his brothers, Richard (Marsha), Gord, and Eric (Margorie). This close bunch grew up in Spryfield through the 50's and 60's. The boys loved cars, rabbit hunting and Jiving to the Top 20 after school with their sister.   

Tommie and his wife, Judie, were married for 56 years and built a life together in Middle Sackville, where they raised their 3 children, Tanya (Carlos), Michelle (Nicklo), and Mark (Wendy). Tommie was a treasured father and grandfather, with a special relationship with each of his grandchildren: Nicholas, Kameron, Kaleb, Forbes, Nisha, and Nashe.

He enjoyed simple pleasures in life, such as fishing, working on projects with friends and family and most of all spending time talking with the people he loved. Tom was a skilled pipefitter, often traveling across Canada for his job, and he took great pride in his work. He believed that hard work was a core value that created a path to success, and it was important to him that this value was instilled in his children.

He made friends with everyone he encountered, always with a firm handshake, a welcoming smile, and his signature down-to-earth look of jeans, button-up shirt, and a hat. He would run into people he knew at every turn, clear across Canada - a testament to his easy-going, generous nature. Tom will be deeply missed by his loved ones, but his legacy will live on through the countless memories and stories they shared with him.  

While we take comfort in the fact that we recently spent time together, sharing love and building memories, Tom's passing leaves a void in our hearts. But we know that his love, wisdom, and values will continue to guide us. Rest in peace, your memory will be a blessing to all who knew you. 

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Thursday, October 30th between 3:00 & 7:00pm at Maritime Cremation Centre , 67 Temple Terrace Lower Sackville Nova Scotia B4C OB5.
