Obituary of Peter Arthur Richard
“We don’t say goodbye, we say see you soon.”
On October 21, 2025, the man well known for his strength of character, dedication to his family and bone crushing bear hugs, Peter Arthur Richard lost his battle with cancer and passed away at the Halifax Infirmary, in Halifax NS. Peter was born to Gordon Richard and Nina Osborn in Montreal, on August 5th 1951.
Growing up in Moncton, NB Peter, or Pete as he was affectionately nicknamed by his 5 siblings, spent summers in Cassie Cape, NB at the Green Villa hardening the soles of his feet on the hot sand, and listening to the juke box at Tony’s late in to the night. As a young man he would tinker with junkyard cars and motorcycles, including his beloved 1964 Harley Davidson, and would return to riding later in life, a passion he shared with his youngest daughter.
Peter wasn’t a man afraid of hard work and would go on to secure a position with the Department of National Defense, as an Engineer and spend twenty years doing one of the things he most loved - blowing things up and rebuilding them again.
Sailing, woodworking, and gardening were also on the list of things he loved, but at the very top of it was his family. Son, brother, cousin, uncle, grandfather and father. Peter took each one of these roles seriously and took great pride in being a constant source of laughter, support and unconditional love, including being the beacon of strength his oldest daughter needed during her fight with addiction.
Peter is survived by his daughters, Kami and Eden; grandchildren Declyn, Logan, Cassius, Roman and Milo; siblings Pat (Michael), John (Ellen), Rick (Germaine), and Paul; nieces, nephews and many beloved cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Roger (Susan), and parents, Gordon and Nina.
