Celebration of Life
Obituary of Isla Georgina Rahal
It is with shattered hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our daughter, Isla, on April 18, 2026, at just 7 years old, after a courageous and unwavering battle with neuroblastoma.
Isla was born on January 19, 2019, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to her devoted parents, Courtney and Justin Rahal. In 2021, she proudly became a big sister to Mara, a role she embraced with so much love, patience, and joy. Mara looked up to her in every way, and Isla cherished her deeply.
To all who knew her, Isla was a light. She was kind, brave, gentle and endlessly compassionate, with a playful spirit and a sense of humor that brought smiles wherever she went. Isla loved dance class, going to school, and being with her friends. She found joy in the simple moments, building Lego, drawing and singing along to her favorite Taylor Swift songs.
Isla was wise far beyond her years. She had a heart of gold and a smile so bright and contagious it could light up even the darkest room. Her laughter, her warmth, and her love will forever live in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.
We are deeply grateful to the staff at the IWK and to our incredible community for the unwavering support, kindness, and love shown to our family throughout Isla’s journey. A special thank you to Dr. Crooks, Dr. Pike, Meredith, and Isla’s beloved BFF Jen, who cared for Isla and our family with such compassion and dedication. You made an unimaginable journey a little more bearable, and we will never forget the love you showed us.
Isla will be missed more than words could ever express. She leaves behind a world that is better because she was in it, and hearts that will carry her forever.
A Celebration of Islas life will be held on Saturday, May 16th at The Beaver Bank Kinsac Community Centre from 1-4. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the IWK Pediatric Oncology Division. A special thank you to Denise and Jim at Maritime Cremation Centre for your professionalism and compassion during this difficult time.
