Obituary of Roderick Eugene Delaney

Aged 79, Maryvale, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 24, 2020. Born in Pleasant Valley, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late Bernard J. Delaney and Theresa J. MacLellan.

Roddie was a jack of all trades and would turn his hand at any job and did just that throughout his life. Working as a school bus driver, mechanic and carpet layer, to name a few. Roddie found great enjoyment in racing his stock car #60 on local dirt tracks and could most recently be found with his constant companion, his dog “Boogaboo”.

He is survived by his children, Dean (Jenny), Pleasant Valley , Ron (Jonathan), Ketch Harbour and Crystal (John), Elmsdale; their mother, Margo, Maryvale and his grandchildren, Ryan, Jenna, Jillian, Analeigh Delaney, Joel and Justin MacNeil. He is also survived by siblings, Hughie (Alice), Bernie (Sandra), Stella (Don), Barbara (Evelyn), Martin (Ann) and Dan(Gail); many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Jim, Howard, Jack, Mary, George, Douglas, Veronica and an infant sister.

In keeping with Roddie’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no Funeral Mass. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1 from 2 – 5 PM in the 4 Valleys Fire Department in Maryvale.
