Nicholas MacKenzie

Obituary of Nicholas James MacKenzie

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas (Nick) James MacKenzie, on April 13, 2021. He was born in Halifax on June 30th, 1993.

Nick was an avid hockey player and Captain of his Halifax West School Hockey Team. His love of hockey led him to become a coach to his son’s hockey teams. Nick was a loving, caring, kind and compassionate man who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Nick loved the outdoors, and he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking with his wife and boys. He especially enjoyed going ‘Down Home’ to Whitehead and spending time with his whole family. His deep, pure love for his family and friends showed through in everything he did. Once you were a friend to Nick, you were a friend forever.

Left to mourn with his beautiful memories are his loving wife, Victoria (Shaw); sons, Brantley and Blake; loving parents, Ernie and Ruth; sister, Jessica (Will Dixon); nephews, Jordan and Noah; grandparents, Shirley, Roni-Mae (Arnie), and Bob (Donna); mother-in-law, Fawnda (Derek); several aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as many special family friends.

Nick was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Howard MacKenzie; maternal grandparents, Basil and Shirley, Kenney; special Aunt, Joan; and Uncle, Moe Cannon.

Celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 18th, 2021 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Fairview Legion, 50 Hillcrest Street. COVID restrictions will apply. Donations can be made in Nick’s memory to Canadian Mental Health Association/Nova Scotia.
