Obituary of William Graeme Currie
89, Halifax, passed away on Saturday April 30th at the VG hospital with family at his side.
Bill will be lovingly missed by his daughter Rachel; son-in-law Scott; grand-dog Bo and his friends. Bill was predeceased by his wife Pat, daughter Sarah Beth, parents, Ulah and Robert Currie as well as his brothers, Rye and Rod Currie. Unknown is his son, Mark.
Bill was born in Dartmouth, NS, grew up in Woodside and graduated from both Saint Mary’s and Dalhousie University. He spent much of his career at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre as a psychologist and was very proud of the work he did supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries. He resided in his beloved home on Dakin Drive in Halifax, feeding and admiring the wildlife, up to his last year. There were many people that aided in Bill’s quality of life even as his health declined. He spoke daily about his Tim Horton’s group of friends, especially Maurice and Joe, long after he was unable to attend.
Bill’s last year of life was positively impacted while at the Bedford Berkeley by the recreation staff where he carried the program calendar with him wherever he went, and the recreation therapist on 9 Lane. His final time in the hospital was spent on 9A VG where he received exemplary care. The 9A nursing, dietary, cleaning and clerk staff treated Bill and Rachel with the utmost care.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, no service will be held. If desired, donations can be made to Hope for Wildlife, the Metro Foodbank or a charity of your choice.
