Obituary of Jean Josephine Foote

FOOTE, Jean Josephine (Eldridge)  - Aged 82, died peacefully in Palliative Care at the Victoria General Hospital on Sunday, May 29, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Born June 6,1939 in Beaver Harbour, NB, she was the daughter of the late Clare and Grace (Borthwick) Eldridge. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Carmen, Wilfred, Ford, Glen, Ernest, and Myles Eldridge, and sisters June Markee, Hazel Clinch and Millicent Hawkins.

Mom will be greatly missed and forever be lovingly remembered by her children, Natalie (Bobby), Tanya (Vince) and Jeff (Gayle); sister, Shirley and twin brothers, David (Joanne) and James (Eileen); grandchildren, Zoe, Nikhil, Amanda (Justin) and Brenda (Craig); great grandchildren, Geneva , Aedric, and Jessie Lee. All were her pride and joy. Mom is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

Mom worked passionately at Ward 5 Community Center for 25 years as a secretary extraordinaire. She loved her time there and all the people she worked with. Mom enjoyed bowling for many years, gardening and camping. You could always find her cooking up a feast for the many potlucks around the campfire. Mom loved to dance for years at the Legions with her friends , music brought her so much joy! Mom loved driving to the beach, Queensland, Whitepoint, Summerville and Carter’s beach were her favourites and spending time in all of our backyards, watching the sunsets and listening to music. Mom was a life lived in devotion to her family and all those she loved. Her faith was evident throughout her humility and kindness. She saw the grace of God in everyone and everything and she was a 25 year congregation member of Bedford United Church.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Site 6.2 Halifax Infirmary Hospital  and Site 7.A Palliative Care ,Victoria General Hospital who provided exceptional care for Mom the last 2 months.

Arrangements are under the care of Maritime Cremation Center, Lower Sackville. A celebration of Mom’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 1 pm at Bedford United Church, 1200 Bedford Highway. Interment will take place in Pennfield ,NB on August 27, 2022.

For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Jean may be made to Hospice Halifax. Natalie and Tanya (Jean’s daughters) will be walking in Memory of Jean on June 12 ,2022 for the Hike for Hospice to raise awareness for the incredible great need for the building of additional hospices in Halifax to accommodate more end of life patients. www.hospicehalifax.ca/hike.
