Obituary of Ruth Deanna Slade
Ruth Slade, 70, of Herring Cove. Saturday, July 2, Ruth passed away at home with her loving and devoted husband of 43 years by her side.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Peter, daughter, Sarah, son in law, Brian, grandson, Jayce; brother, Reg Seeton (Alison) and many relatives and special friends. Ruth had a great love of animals and has left 3 of her favorites behind, Shelby, Milo and Cloud.
Ruth grew up in Armdale where she attended to Halifax Ladies College, sang at the Royal Conservatory of music and participated in many Kiwanis festivals.
In the 70s Ruth and a few girlfriends could be found driving their lime green motorcycles or taxi cabs around the city. In 76 Ruth met Peter and they headed West where they made many great memories before moving home to Herring Cove with baby girl Sarah.
In the 90s Ruth revisited her love of dance and began teaching line dancing and was a part of a dance group called Flannel Flappers, they travelled all around the Maritimes and had a blast doing so. Many friends were made.
One of the major highlights of Ruth’s life was being ‘GG’ to her grandson Jayce. She loved that little boy more than anything.
We would like to thank all of her home care workers and VONs who have cared for her over the last few years. We have so much love and appreciation for you all.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date. If you would like to make a donation in Ruth’s memory, please do so to the Nova Scotia lung association.
