Obituary of Barry Edman Grant

Age, 72 - Halifax. Born April 5, 1950, Barry passed away unexpectedly on March 15, 2023 at the Halifax Infirmary with family present. Born in New Glasgow, he was the youngest son of the late John and Hazel (Robeson) Grant.  

Barry grew up in Merigomish and graduated from East Pictou Rural High School. He retired in 2005 after 32 years at MT&T/Aliant where he made many life long friends. In his retired life he enjoyed touring the Maritime Provinces on his motorcycle with friends. To stay busy he enjoyed painting houses and kept his home and property meticulous and loved decorating for Christmas. He enjoyed annual fishing trips and was an avid Habs fan. He will also be remembered for his dry wit and hilarious sense of humour. 

Barry was a loving friend, neighbour, husband and father and fully embraced his title as Grampy. His four grandchildren were the lights of his life and they will miss their grampy immensely. Barry is survived by his wife Margaret (MacDonald), daughter Megan, Matthew (Jodie Terrio) and grandchildren - Vivian, Haven, Piper, and Phoenix. He is also survived by his aunt Dorothy Robeson and sisters in law - Tanya Grant and Pat Buck as well as nieces, nephews and many cousins. Besdies his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joan (husband Bev) and brothers, Ian and Ken. 

A visitation will take place at Cruikshank's Funeral Home (2666 Windsor St., Halifax) on Thursday, March 23rd from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. A funeral will be held at the Merigomish United Church on Saturday, March 25th at 1:00pm followed by a family burial in May at Riverview Cemetery, Merigomish.
