Obituary of John Gregory "Greg" Lettice

John Gregory "Greg" Lettice Sr. of Sydney Mines, an unparalleled cabinet maker, truck driver, and jack of all trades passed away on April 1, 2023 at home, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him. Born to the late Danny and Bernadette (Devoe) Lettice.

He was a man of extraordinary qualities. Greg was an early riser and he cherished the stunning view of the sunrise over the harbour each morning. He always had a coffee in his hand while enjoying the view, listening to country music in the background with his dog diesel as his constant companion.   In his earlier years, Greg was employed as a long-haul truck driver. He worked for numerous companies that provided him the opportunity to travel all over North America. This was an amazing opportunity for Greg and his family to travel together and spend time with his namesake Gregory Junior. Gregory loved spending time in the transport truck and looked forward to skipping school  and summer vacation to take trips to the Carolinas and Florida with his Dad. They would go to Disney and any other attractions they had time for, Gregory has great memories of all of his great time spent travelling with his Dad. He had an unwavering passion for learning, and therefore he could put his hand to anything whether it was mechanics, plumbing, electrical or carpentry. His family and friends, and especially his neighbours where he lived and grew up on Amber Drive could always rely on him for help with anything, no job was ever too big or too small. Whether it was removing snow or fixing steps, the neighbours knew they could always rely on Greg. The last number of years Greg was employed with Northern Contracting Ltd. His dedication, passion and work ethic were unmatched and his extreme perfectionist nature ensured that every time he undertook a project it was accomplish with utmost precision and finesse.

Greg is survived by his only child, John Gregory Lettice Junior (Marley) as well as his siblings, Jean Marie, Jimmy, Linda and Darrell. He’s also survived by numerous aunts uncles nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Greg’s Life will be held at the John J. Nugent Fireman's Club on Saturday, April 8th at 11am, followed by a reception. If desired donations can be made in Greg’s memory to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital  Patient Care Fund.

Even though I’m leaving, I ain’t going anywhere.
