Obituary of Kimberly Michelle Clarke

Clarke, Kimberly Michelle “Kim”:  47, Hubley.  It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother and daughter, Kimberly M. Clarke, at her home, surrounded by her loving family on August 28, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.  Kim was a kind heart who was devoted to her family.  Her children, Hayden and Ashtyn, and her husband, Justin, of 22 years, were her world.  Kim was always there to nurture and support, always with a warm embrace.  She was incredibly proud of her family.  She was also a well recognized professional, having worked at Gordon Stirrett, where she was a valued and well-respected employee for over 22 years.  Kim had a sense of positivity, spirituality, and her smile lit up every space she entered.

You could often find Kim photographing beautiful sunsets, playing with her animals, or watching the butterflies and hummingbirds in her garden.  Kim felt most at peace when she was near the ocean, she could sit and listen to the waves crashing for hours, and loved watching the sunset at Peggys Cove.  Kim loved wineries, Italian food, and just relaxing with her friends on a neighborhood deck.  Kim also loved to travel, her favorites were New York at Christmas time or on the beaches of the Caribbean.

Kim is survived by her best friend and husband, Justin, her cherished children, Hayden Andrew (Bradi), and Ashtyn Olivia (Jack), as well as her mother, Linda (Dempsey) Gray, father, David (Nicole), and brothers, Scott (Katherine) and Michael (Allison).  She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Catherine “Kay” Clarke,  brothers-in-law, Chris (Jenn) and Craig Oxner, many aunts and uncles, nieces, Hayley, Chelsea (Shaka), Vylet and Hailey, and nephews, Nathan, Avery, Chandler, Brody, Craig (Angela), great-niece and great-nephews, Ethan, Mason, Kayleigh, Bentley, a large extended family, many, many friends, neighbors, and colleagues... too many to mention.  Kim also will be missed by her loyal animal companions, Brady (Australian Shepherd) and Marley (Bunny).

She was predeceased by her stepfather Michael “Mike” Gray, her grandparents, her father-in-law, Gerald “Gerry” Clarke, and a sister-in-law, Carrie-Anne Oxner.

A special thank you to all of the wonderful care workers (Closing The Gap), Nurses (VON) and the Palliative Care Team (QEII), that helped keep Kim safe and comfortable while at home.

In keeping with Kim’s wishes, a gathering will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11am to 12:30 for a time of remembrance, with a service beginning at 12:30pm at Maritime Cremation Centre, 67 Temple Terrace, Lower Sackville, NS.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Kim to the Nova Scotia SPCA.
