Obituary of Jennifer Lynn Afify
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jennifer Lynn Afify of Saint Croix, NS, announce her peaceful passing on September 24, 2023, at the age of 38 years, with her family by her side. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Mohamed, daughter, Leila, her parents, Alvin and Jo-Anne (Woodworth) Singer of Enfield, NS, her sister, Heather McKenna (Ian), and a niece Charlotte, all of Milford, NS, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jennifer was predeceased by her grandparents, Evelyn and Sidney Woodworth and Annie and George Singer, her father-in-law, Reda Mohamed Afify, a cousin, Tammy Kelly, her uncle, Charles Woodworth, and close family friend, Ahmed Zahran.
Jennifer will be remembered as loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece and friend to many. She grew up in Milford, NS, where she attended school. During her childhood years, Jennifer was interested and participated in highland dance and won numerous medals. At a young age, Jennifer worked alongside her sister for many summers babysitting for a local family. Throughout her life, Jennifer loved family time, specifically family vacations and dinners. She enjoyed quality time with friends, travelling to other countries, reading and listening to music. After she graduated from high school, she attended StFX to further her studies in teaching. Soon after, she travelled to Egypt to teach English at a private school. While there, she met the love of her life, Mohamed, and they spent a year travelling throughout Egypt. Mohamed moved to Canada in 2011 to begin his life with Jennifer, and by 2014 they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Leila, who became their world. Jennifer also had a special connection to animals and that was apparent with the love for her cat, Adora and dog, Tut. In early 2021, Jennifer was diagnosed with TNBC and started her journey to fight cancer head on She did that with all of her heart until the end, where she succumbed to the disease. She had been a loyal employee of Wilsons Security up until she started her treatment, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Jennifer will be remembered by all who knew her as a wise, kind, compassionate and courageous woman. She was adventurous, wrote her own rules and paved her own way. Jennifer's determination to accomplish goals for herself and her family thoughout her life was inspiring. She was always willing to lend a hand and would do anything for her family and friends.
A celebration of life in memory of Jennifer will held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 2-4pm at Maritime Cremation Centre, 67 Temple Terrace, Lower Sackville, NS. A private burial will be held. In memory of Jennifer, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Leila's future and education.
