Obituary of Jayne Louise Keddy Cane
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Jayne on November 8, 2023 at the Dartmouth General Hospital, with family by her side. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Carl R. and Erma (MacKenzie) Keddy. She was predeceased by her husband Randall (Randy) in December, 2020.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecah (Jamison Tomka); sisters, Carole (Bob Somers), Patricia Keddy-Smith, Ann Brothers (Donald Peters), and brother, Chris (Patsy), along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jayne, along with her husband Randy was an avid NASCAR fan, her favourite driver was Jimmie Johnson. She was also an avid Pittsburg Penguins fan, her favourite player was Sidney Crosby. She and Randy were amateur naturalists enjoying the wildlife around their property in Eastern Passage, particularly the pheasants and bunnies. She also enjoyed many music artists, Tina Turner and Adele being some top picks.
Jayne took great interest in cooking programs and often, to her sisters chagrin, would have them try different recipes. She would then voice her opinion on whether or not it was good or bad, too spicy or too salty.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the compassionate caregivers who attended to Jayne over the past two years, her Oncologist Dr. Wojciech Morzycki, (with whom she had a special bond) and RN Nora, Family Dr. Mayelin Figueroa, Respirologist Dr. Pierre Landry, Homecare, especially Regina O, Palliative Care team, Doctors and Nurses at the Cancer Centre, Dickson Building and Doctors and Nurses at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Arrangements entrusted to Maritime Cremation Centre, Lower Sackville. Celebration of life for both Jayne and Randy will be held in late spring of 2024. If so desired, donations in Jayne's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Nova Scotia Nature Trust, 81 Prince Albert Road, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 1M1.
