Obituary of Brant Winslow McKinnon
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, on November 26th at the age of 91. He passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital.
Dad was born on October 23rd, 1933, in Dayspring, Lunenburg County, to Janet Whynot (nee Murphy). He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley (nee Harding), having spent 66 cherished years together. Also his dear sister Marie Warman (Moe). His children, Brian (Cathy), Alan (Krista), Cathy (Richy), and Scott (Theresa). Grandchildren, Aaren (Devon), Andrea (Ben), Jillian, Scott, Kaelin (Grant) and Bryson. Great grandchildren Alexis, Oaklyn, Reece and Kynleigh.
Dad had unlimited drive, lived to work and never sat still for long. Dad was a true woodsman, spending his weekends at the camp in Mooseland. He had a deep appreciation for all things in nature. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his sons and friends. One of his favourite spots being Nine Fools. Whether he was in the garden, the woodpile, or working on projects such as crafting birdhouses and whirligigs, he was always up to something. In his later years, he loved watching the birds and squirrels from his deck each day with Mom. Dad enjoyed a good Western film, telling jokes, having a boiled dinner and a glass of rum.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Maritime Cremation Centre, Lower Sackville. A private interment will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the Palliative Care Unit 7A at the Victoria General Hospital for the tireless support and care that they gave to Dad in his final days.
