Obituary of Jacques Doris Stanislas Perron

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness we give notice of the passing of Jacques Doris Stanislas Perron at aged 80. He passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2024, at the Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by his children, his oldest grandson, his children-in-law and an enormous amount of love. Jacques was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick to Louis & Georgette (L'Italien). Other than his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gilles and Paul, and his sisters Louisette and Andrée.

Jacques grew up in the small town of Edmundston, NB. His young life was challenging and held more tragedy than some people know in a lifetime, but he was tremendously loved. At 18, he moved to Montréal to study to become a mechanical draftsman and later took a job in his chosen field, first in Port Cartier, PQ & then in Montréal, PQ. In 1975 he met his wife, Marie, while on the job, and in 1977 quit that same job so they could move to Nova Scotia together. He instantly loved this province. Jacques & Marie later married in 1978. They were married from 1978 to 1997 when they amicably separated and remained great friends.

After his career was cut short due to complications from colorectal cancer, he became a man of many hobbies, most of them centered around photography, birdwatching, wine, music & jazz, research, local history, cribbage, reading, and his deep love of nature and being outside.

All of these hobbies may have kept him busy, but he was never too busy for his children, who arguably, and despite his many accomplishments, were his greatest pride. He was a warm and dedicated father, a true gift to his three children.

Our father often said that every day after his cancer diagnosis was a gift, and he made the most of this gift for as long as he physically could.

Jacques is survived by his three children; Amy, David (Katelyn) & Danielle (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Daxtin and Soren, his former wife and lifelong friend Marie, and his many "grand-dogs".

A service will be held on December 20th, 2024 from 1pm to 3pm at Maritime Cremation Centre in Lower Sackville, for anyone who loved Jacques and would like to join us in celebrating his amazing life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Caring and Sharing Food Bank in Enfield, NS, where Jacques was a frequent donator due to his early life experience with food insecurity.

Special thank you to Michelle & countless nurses from 3 East; Sarah, Carlly & Kaitlyn from 3 West; Brianna & Melissa from 4 West; Dr Riley Stewart & Megan; Dr Stacey General & Patty; DGH emergency room staff, as well as the porters, housekeepers, imaging and food service staff who treated our father with kindness and respect while he was in and out of hospital over the last three years.

"On t'aime, Papa."
