Obituary of Sharon Emily Tiscornia
Sharon Emily Tiscornia of Gays River/Halifax, NS, passed away peacefully in palliative care at the VG hospital in Halifax on December 29, 2024 at the age of 78, after a lengthy fight with cancer. Sharon was born on September 28, 1946 to the late Amy (Miller) and Sylvester Tiscornia.
Sharon left home in her teens and moved to Halifax to work in private homes. She first worked at the French Pastries and retired after working 36 years at the Civic/Camphill Hospitals. It brought Sharon heartfelt joy to do for others. She loved crafts, jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, reading novels, and listening to country music. She was a member of the Fairview Legion.
Sharon is survived by her siblings: sisters, June, Gloria (Ontario), Donna (Larry), Yvonne, Darlene (Donald), Marilyn (Donnie), Cheryl (Ontario), Joyce (Leonard), Linda (Elden); brothers, John, Charles, Howard, Douglas, and Ralph. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Teri (Ontario), Brenda (Ontario), Tammy (Quebec), Jennifer, Derek, Tosha, Wanda, Dwayne, Lacey, David, Ashley, Darrin, Brandon, and Michael.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy and Karen; brother, George, and in-laws Bill, Joanne, Aubrey, Eileen, and Pansy.
Sharon will be dearly missed by her friends at the apartment: Amelia, Anita, and Julie.
A special thank you to our niece Lacey and to the caregivers who gave so much in taking great care of Sharon, including Marilyn, Calvin, Chloe, and Rex. And to nurses Scott and Joanne for the comfort they provided in Sharon’s final hours.
Cremation has taken place, and in keeping with Sharon’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. There will be a Spring burial and Sharon will be laid to rest beside her mother at the childhood church, in Gays River Cemetery.
