I only met Gary in person once, but I liked him right away. And thats rather odd for me as I'm not really a people person. Being my sister's hubby, i started talking to him quite regularly on the phone and before I knew it, he was like a dear abby. We spent many an hour on the phone, laughing and sometimes crying. He was a very special individual and i loved him. RIP Gary.......love Cathy

Dear Theresa and family: I am very sorry for Gary’s passing. Although I am the only sister of Theresa who has never had the privilege of meeting Gary. I felt I knew him from all of Theresa’s stories of all the things they did together. From drives, to McDonald’s breakfasts after Gary would pick Theresa up from work, I felt many times I was there with them. Cherish the good memories. Prayers for all. Colleen

I met Gary in 2014 while on a trip to Nova Scotia to visit my cousin Theresa. I liked him from the start (who does not like a "cat person" when I have a cat at home.) He and Theresa made me feel right at home while visiting. He guided a wonderful tour of the Halifax area as well as the requisite visit to Peggy's Cove. I thoroughly enjoyed his company during my visit. It was easy to see that he was a good person. I know he will be missed by the family and his many friends. R.I.P. Gary

To Gary’s family and extended family, please accept my sincere condolences. I believe some people are just meant to be a part of your life. I met Gary in Halifax when he was spreading his wings in his late teens. He became a regular at our home in Halifax, where we enjoyed his great personality and sense of humour and his love for a good card game. My family relocated to Cape Breton and when I enrolled in an accounting course at St. Peter’s High, Gary became one of my classmates, where we spent many hours of fun. After I was married, once again our paths connected through friends. Later he became a councilor to my younger brother and most recently we reunited when he took a part time job at a local Home Depot. So you see, I think we were always meant to be connected in some way. He never lost his humour or wit, greeting all who past his path with a smile - just a great person to know. Rest easy, my friend, you are being thought of in the fondest way. Sue (Stone) Dickson

Dear members of Gary’s immediate, extended family and siblings, I too am an old St.Peter’s boy, I some what had just recently reunited with Gary (sporadically over the past 3-years) while at his place of work in Halifax. We would either, wave, throw out a “Hey” or if time permitted, spend some good time with lots of laughs reminiscing about ”St.Peter’s”, our school days along with the “extra curricular activities” and week-ends, oh those good old weekends we so enjoyed back in the day. For me he never changed a bit, he was still that funny, sharp witted, the great guy I remembered from the the 60’s and I was so glad to almost pick up right where we left off some 50 plus years ago. The only exception... he put a lot of emphasis on the love he had for his family and his children as he just beamed when he spoke of them. My sincere condolences to each of you!
Rest in Peace Gary, your old high school bud! - Ron Dickson

To the family of Gary Wambolt: I am so sorry for your loss! I knew Gary when he was quite young and I would go there for sleepovers with his sister Lynn. I absolutely loved going to their home . Gary was a fine young man and he had two wonderful parents. I admired all their family for the respect they had for each other. It was wonderful sitting at their table at meal time.
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this very difficult time.
The Wambolt family sure made an impsct on my life in a very good way. I think of all of you, often.
With heartfelt sympathy.
