Dear Maureen and Family,
I am saddened by the passing of Lindsay but at the same time I am glad I was able to share some of that time. Lindsay is a great man. He always had a smile and a laugh for us. He would help out no matter what the circumstance. He rescued me when my car blew an engine at Square Pond, towed me back behind the Cougar with a 20' rope doing 90kph! He swapped an engine in his driveway in Apr for that same car. Who does that? No one. But Lindsay did. He also helped Mark, Tony and myself obtain cool refreshing drinks (shh, don't tell Mrs Sheppard) so we could make our own trobleand have our own stories to tell. There are so many stories and laughs to remember. He will live in our hearts forever and be part of my stories and laughs.
Much love, thinking of you all,
Doug Godden and family

To Mary, Mary Elizabeth & families.
Jack & I are so saddened to hear of Lindsay’s passing. Please accept our sincere condolences. Our memories of Lindsay are mostly of him as a young boy growing up in Gander. Visiting when you first moved to Gander & living at Birchview & then moving to Hawker Cres. We did share a few camping trips together on the east & west coast. and the CNT kids Christmas parties.Time has a way of getting away from us all. We can almost hear Alf saying now “Yes child”.
May the memories that you have shared over the years help you in the days ahead.
Those we love don’t go away,
they walk beside us everyday
Unseen,unheard,but always near,
So loved, so missed,
so very dear.

From growing up in Gander, through school, Air Cadets, tobogganing on the run, attending dances at the Legion, straight through to the present in Halifax/Hammonds Plains, Lindsay put a smile on my face, and on the faces of those around him. He would give you the t-shirt off his back (reluctantly, if it had a pocket) and left me laughing.
We talked about and enjoyed music, aspects of culture, meals and food. He was witty and intelligent. His service makes him a Canadian Hero.
He is missed. I am so sorry for the loss to the family.
