Obituary of Krystyna Calleja

In Loving Memory of Krystyna Calleja

March 17, 1951 (Poland) – January 2, 2024 (Halifax)

It is with immense love and deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Krystyna (Krys) Calleja.

Krys was not only our mother but also our best friend and confidant. Her legacy of love, generosity, and strong convictions will be cherished forever by her children, Kattie (Andrew) and Shaun. She was a proud and devoted Bapcia to Oscar, Ethan, Isabel, and Angela. Krys is also survived and deeply missed by her loving sister Ursula, her many brothers- and sisters-in-law, especially Nelly, as well as countless cousins, nieces, and nephews around the globe who held a special place in her heart.

She was a remarkable woman whose fiery spirit, radiant laughter, and generous soul touched everyone she met. Whether it was a new friend in the grocery store aisle or someone who needed a little touch of kindness in their day, she lived and exemplified a life that radiated love, joy, and compassion.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take solace in the beautiful memories we shared with Krys. Her vibrant spirit will continue to inspire us every day. She showed us how to carry laughter, love, and generosity in our hearts.

You are warmly invited to join us in celebrating Krys’s life on Saturday, January 25, from 1:00–4:00 PM at the Veterans Service League (VSL), 1473 Main Street East, Hamilton, where she made so many friends and memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her memory to a local animal shelter or wildlife foundation of your choice.
